ER VISIT

I absolutely hate going to the see a doctor. I am the type of person that usually just suffers through whatever I have until it goes away, but most of the time I just self medicate. Everything a DR will ever give me I have brought back from a Mexico Pharmacy. I have had sinus infections, bronchitis, pneumonia, ear infections strep, and other things many many times to know how to self medicate.  Every single time that I have gone to the DR I leave there saying, “Why in the world did I waste $30.00 (co-pay) for them to tell me something I already knew”

Heck, at times I have told the DR, this is what I believe I have because they didn’t know. And what do you know, I was right! How in TARNATION are they doctors if they can’t properly diagnose. Here’s a great example of mis-diagnosing. (it’ll try to keep the story short)

I started my week with a migraine that finally went away after two days but then I just had a continuous nonstop headache. I thought I had a headache because of a knot I found on the back of my neck the same time my migraine started. Anyhow, I noticed throughout the week that the knot started getting bigger and bigger and very painful to touch. Then I realized that I started to get a lot of little bumps the size of pimples on the back of my neck and head. I woke up on Friday morning at 3:30 am with an excruciating headache as well as my neck feeling as if it was on fire. I went to the restroom to get a mirror to look at the back of my neck. That bump on the back of my neck was huge, hot, red and itchy. I also was swollen on my left eyelid as well as above the eyelid. I took Benadryl and went back to sleep.

I woke up with the same symptoms and got ready for school. I get to school and my pain just got worse. I have a couch in my classroom so I turned off the lights laid down in it until the bell rang. I really thought that I was going to pass out. I went and told my asst principal what was going on with me and that if I passed out, this was why. The lights and the sound were really getting to me. Lucky for me, my students were very good to me and remained quiet when I told them I wasn’t feeling well. I knew something was terribly wrong because I just couldn’t function. My asst principal told me they had a sub for me and for me to go to the ER.

I get to the ER and the doctor checked me out and literally said, “Hmmm?” That doctor left and came back with another doctor. The second doctor asked if I was there because of my headache. I told him no because I get headaches all the time and that I was there because of the gross bump on the back of my neck. This Dr kept asking me questions like, do you have scalp conditions? Have you changed your shampoo? And basically just questions that would make it seem that I had an allergic reaction to something. Then a THIRD doctor walks in and all three are just standing there trying to figure out what the heck is going on with me. I told them about it possibly being MRSA The doctors just looked at me like, “what the heck is that?” They did a little huddle and spoke softly so I didn’t hear what they had to say. Finally the first doctor said that they weren’t sure what it was so they would give me two different antibiotics (Keflex & Bactrim DS) to kill off whatever infection I have. They also gave me Darvocet which is a narcotic pain reliever.

So I get my discharge papers from the ER and under diagnosis it says… HEADACHE! Are you flipping kidding me? Now, I didn’t go to medical school, but I know that headache is NOT a diagnosis. DOCTORS… Headache is a symptom!! A SYMPTOM I TELL YOU… A SYMPTOM!!! I was so irritated when I left the ER. Why don’t they try to spend more time trying to figure out what the dang problem is! AGHHH!!!

After the ER, I went to pick up Jessica. We came home and I am still in a lot of pain. We both laid there (she didn’t sleep immediately, but she did just lay quietly in bed… thank goodness) I was able to sleep for four hours. Of course when I woke up, things weren’t any better. This bump on the back of my neck seemed to spread. Now I have a bunch of weird bump type things all over my back. They are red, itching, and burning hot. I don’t get it!! Does anyone have a clue on to what is going on with me because doctors obviously don’t know. I will mail you the co-pay after you properly diagnose me. ha ha
